A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon from the northern part of the Médoc, the 2016 Château Doyac is a fine Cru Bourgeois that has a beautiful cassis, scorched earth, and tobacco-scented nose as well as medium body, notable purity, light tannins, and a terrific overall balance. It’s just another hidden gem in this vintage that will be savored by true Bordeaux lovers. It should keep for 7-8 years.

A light, flinty edge to the nose here with a rich, ripe and succulent palate that has beautiful balance and layered tannins throughout. A blend of 75 per cent merlot and 25 per cent cabernet sauvignon. Try from 2021.
The 2016 Doyac feels a little basic and lacks cohesion on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy, red berry fruit, light on its feet and yet it just misses some complexity and grip towards the finish. One of the earlier drinking Haut-Médoc wines. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Intense black fruit with a touch of bitterness on the palate, and simple spices that prevent this being too one-dimensional. (RH)
