Coming from the cooler Carneros appellation located in the southern part of Napa Valley, the 2012 Syrah Las Madres Vineyard Esther Block is starting to show some maturity, with a ripe, perfumed bouquet of spiced plums, blood orange, violets, flowers, and herbes de Provence. It shows the vintage nicely on the palate and is ripe and exotic, yet stays light, balanced, and weightless, and is a joy to drink. All in all, this beautiful, exotic Syrah is drinking great today yet should easily evolve through 2028, and probably longer in cold cellars.
