Coming from the Les Bedines lieu-dit and all destemmed, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape is based on 90% Grenache, 8% Syrah, and 2% Mourvèdre that was brought up all in stainless steel. Its medium ruby hue is followed by a classic nose of ripe red and black fruits, melted licorice, and roasted garrigue. With medium-bodied richness and depth on the palate, it has a lively, elegant mouthfeel, a good sense of freshness, and ripe tannins. This elegant, perfumed, satisfying 2022 will drink nicely for 8-10 years.
With a closed, shy bouquet, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape from Domaine L'Abbe Dine evokes aromas of licorice, earth, spices and bay leaf. It is followed by a moderately weighted, concentrated and firm palate with controlled power but a firm tannic frame that lends a certain rigidity. A few years of cellaring should soften its assertive profile and allow for more harmonious development.
70% Grenache Blanc, 28% Roussanne, 1% Bourboulenc, 1% Clairette. Vinified and aged in new oak barrels (50%) and stainless-steel tanks. Tasted blind. A slight tropical note on the rich nose. Honey and chamomile on the palate, which has some fresh-lime acidity to lift it. A dense palate with a lick of oak on the finish. Introverted. (AC)
