2004 Domaine des Comtés Lafon Volnay Santenots du Milieu 1er Cru

Nice bit of evolution on the nose, some richness even. Transparent, pretty and lively. Ready. Long. (JR)

While most of these wines say 13% on the label, this one says 14%! Pretty dark crimson. Something rather cheesy on the nose. The fruit could be fresher on the nose, though it is admirably crunchy and lively and crackling on the palate. Acidity well integrated. This is a bigger, more muscular wine than most, though still youthful. (JR)

This is notably more elegant with a pretty nose of ripe red pinot fruit with undertones of forest floor that complements perfectly the delicious, fresh and sweet mouth coating flavors that are really impressively refined and silky. Despite the low yields, this is not particularly dense though it retains a fine sense of balance.
