Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2016-2035, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Mar 2024

Still possessing more life ahead of it, Chappellet's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature remains a paragon of elegance. Complex notes of camphor, creosote, cassis and dark chocolate appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is silky and softy tannic, with a gently dusty, harmonious finish.

A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill is another wonderfully evocative triumph from this family-owned Pitchard Hill pioneer. Deep garnet-purple colored, it storms out of the glass with profound scents of crème de cassis, blackberry preserves, licorice and mulberries, plus hints of unsmoked cigars, wild sage and tar. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers fantastic intensity and great poise, offering fine-grained, ripe tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and mineral laced. (LPB)

Blackberries, blueberries, black licorice, ink and flowers on the nose. Tar, too. Full-bodied with plush, integrated tannins that are intertwined to pure velvet. The finish goes on and on. Wonderful balance and harmony.

The 2018 Cabernet Franc is a potent, heady wine. Dried herbs, tobacco, crushed rocks, menthol, licorice, crème de cassis, spice and chocolate are all laced together in the glass. I would give the 2018 a few years in bottle to shed some of its baby fat. (AG)
