Bright straw. Tightly wound citrus fruit and floral scents are complicated by hints of chalky minerals and a touch of smokiness (but there's no new oak here). Dry and incisive on the palate, offering bitter lime zest and honeysuckle flavors that stretch out with air. Closes with strong cut and lift, on a note of bitter quinine.

Showing slightly more integration, the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc McGinley Vineyard is an outstanding effort that makes your mouth water. Mint, citrus, white grapefruit and mineral water all flow nicely to a medium-bodied, pure, crisp and beautifully focused feel on the palate. This will be a perfect meal-starter and will dish out loads of pleasure over the coming year. A joint project between Eric Railsback, who’s the Sommelier at RN74, and Justin Willett of Tyler Wines, Lieu Dit was created in 2011 and focuses on Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Rose and Cabernet Franc from the Santa Ynez Valley.
