Concentrated and beautifully structured, it has a pure, layered texture, elegant tannins, and a vibrant spine of acidity. Give bottles 5-6 years and enjoy over the following 20-25.

O'Shaughnessy's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder features classic notes of bay leaf, sage, black cherries and cedar on the nose. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied and firmly structured, with fine-grained, dusty tannins lining the palate and extending through the mouthwatering finish. Yet despite that, it doesn't come across as hard, austere or forbidding; instead, it's merely suggesting good things to come.
Just bottled, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is a potent, brooding wine. Strong savory and earthy notes are pushed forward, while oak is very much in the background. This is the wine that most shows the natural concentration of the drought vintage. Dense and monolithic, the 2021 is pretty impenetrable at this stage, and yet it is pretty beguiling, especially with regards to what the future might hold.
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is magical. A rush of inky red fruit, white pepper, mint, crushed rocks and rose petal lend brilliance to this finely cut mountain Cabernet. The purity of the flavors is compelling. The 2021 is shaping up to be a very special wine.
