Punteggio 95/100 · James Suckling, Feb 2019

Dark and intense with a ton of blackberries and ripe cassis on the nose and just a hint of mint. Concentrated and powerful but well proportioned. The generous tannins are also very polished and balanced by delicate sweetness through the lingering finish. Drink or hold.

From a vineyard located just behind the estate at the base of Spring Mountain, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Home Vineyard stands out in the lineup for its seamless, sexy, incredibly elegant profile. Full-bodied notes of blackberry jam, cassis, spice, and graphite all emerge from this beauty, which has a rounded, opulent texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. It’s a rock star of a wine to enjoy over the coming 15 years or so.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Home Vineyard shows the more voluptuous side of St. Helena, as opposed to the Chabot, which is distinctly more mineral in style. Soft curves and racy fruit give the Home its immediacy and sheer appeal. Time in the glass allows the wine's breadth and textural richness to come through beautifully in generous dark fruit, chocolate, spice and leather flavors.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon St Helena Home Vineyard (100% Cabernet), aged 21 months in 47% new French oak, has a deep garnet-purple color with warm plums, blackberry preserves and crème de cassis leaping from the glass with nuances of tobacco, iron ore and cedar chest. Full-bodied with a rock-solid frame of ripe, grainy tannins, it has oodles of freshness lifting the intense flavors to a long finish. 453 cases produced.
