2022 Schrader Chardonnay Schrader Boars' View The Coast

Coming from the top of the slope where there’s more clay, which is best suited for Chardonnay, the 2022 Chardonnay The Coast pours a youthful yellow hue and boasts notes of ripe pineapple, fresh honeysuckle, honeyed citrus, beeswax, and delicate baking spice. Full-bodied, it fills the palate with a luxurious feel but stays light on its feet and comes into focus on the finish with a light chalky texture and a clean finish. It is going to drink well over the next 8-10 years. Founded in 2007, the Boars' View estate was planted by Ulises Valdez with the help of Thomas Rivers Brown, in the same geological bowl as Marcassin. The nine acres of the property planted to vines are mostly Pinot Noir, with a small amount of Chardonnay. The wine style is a significant departure from the supple and elegant wines of Rivers Marie in that they are modeled after the aesthetic of Schrader’s style of Cabernet. These are brawny wines with a more obvious stamp of oak influence and opulence and are reflective of their more mountainous, coastal terrain.
