Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2025-2033, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2023

The 2021 Pinot Noir Peay Vineyard is a powerful, savory wine. At this stage, the Peay is very tight and also dominated by whole cluster character. It will be interesting to see if the fruit emerges more fully with time. The Peay is pretty brutal and hard to taste today.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2023

The 2021 Pinot Noir Peay takes on even more intensity and richness while remaining pure, with kirsch, lavender, and sweet herbs. Full-bodied, its angular structure is matched with ripe fruit and notes of turned earth, tea leaf, and gripping tannins. It’s earthy though clean and can stand up to red meat. Drink 2025-2040. Since Failla’s first vintage in 1998, Ehren Jordan has been focused on producing exceptional cool-climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah using biodynamic farming practices. Today, Failla has 11 acres of estate vines and has steadily acquired key vineyard sources from the Occidental Ridge, Hirsch, Peay, Savoy, and Platt vineyards. More recently, they have been expanding north to Oregon, where they are now getting fruit from the Seven Springs Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills of the Willamette Valley. They have also purchased an Oregon winery, Patton Valley Vineyards in Gaston, as well as 30 acres of vineyard land in the Laurelwood District on sandy, windblown basalt soils.
