The 2021 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard marries effusive aromatics with intense, dark fruit. There is something fleeting about the Hirsch that is hard to describe, but its there in elements that are a bit disassociated. It will be interesting to see if this comes together more fully over time.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard is gorgeous, with a floral perfume of fresh roses, raspberry eau de vie, fresh coniferous herbs, and spice. Medium-bodied, this stunning wine has wonderful transparency, with fine sweet tannins, ripe red berries, and fresh flowers. Its fabulous, mineral-laced texture lasts for days, and while it will certainly have serious longevity, it’s irresistible now. Drink 2023-2043. Since Failla’s first vintage in 1998, Ehren Jordan has been focused on producing exceptional cool-climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah using biodynamic farming practices. Today, Failla has 11 acres of estate vines and has steadily acquired key vineyard sources from the Occidental Ridge, Hirsch, Peay, Savoy, and Platt vineyards. More recently, they have been expanding north to Oregon, where they are now getting fruit from the Seven Springs Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills of the Willamette Valley. They have also purchased an Oregon winery, Patton Valley Vineyards in Gaston, as well as 30 acres of vineyard land in the Laurelwood District on sandy, windblown basalt soils.
