33% Grenache, 32% Mourvèdre, 22% Syrah, 5% Cinsaut, 4% Counoise, 2% Tannat, 2% Carignan. Medium ruby with a bit of purple. Muted, gravelly, black-cherry nose. Tannin leads, balanced by mouth-watering acidity. Not much fruit to the finish on this. (SCJ)

The 2021 Ditch Digger is based on one-third each of Grenache and Mourvèdre, with the balance Syrah, Cinsault, Counoise, and other red varieties, and it was fermented with 35% stems and aged in used barrels, with a small portion in concrete. Rockingly good darker raspberries, mulberries, peppery herbs, and gamey, floral notes all emerge from this brilliant effort, a pure, medium to full-bodied, focused red that has ripe, nicely integrated tannins, a silky, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's a killer bottle of wine to drink over the coming decade.
The 2021 Gold Digger is incredibly fresh, with peppery rose, sage and black raspberry forming its zesty bouquet. It displays silky textures mixed with racy acidity and perfumed wild berry fruits as fine-grained tannins slowly saturate toward the close. Tannic, potent and long, yet boasting a core of primary concentration that promises many years of development, the 2021 finishes with a floral resonance and a pleasantly bitter tinge.
The 2021 Gold Digger is an elegant blend of 47% Cabernet Franc, 44% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a nose of bright red and black cherries, graphite, mint, soy sauce, mossy bark and allspice. The medium-bodied palate has a deep core of minty, floral fruit, clay-textured tannins, juicy acidity and a long, nuanced finish.
