Quite brownish ruby. Pale. Light nose. Not much depth of fruit. Dry finish. I'd want to drink this pretty soon although there is excellent fan of ripe flavours on the finish so it could be deceptive. Marked acidity comes to the fore. (JR)

The ruby-colored 2002 Volnay Fremiet offers sweet red fruit and dark cherry aromas. Dominated by black cherries and red berries, its medium-bodied personality is silky, expressive, and structured. A hint of alcoholic warmth was detected in the finish. Drink it between 2005 and 2010. Importer: Diageo Chateau and Estate Wines Company., New York, NY; tel. (212) 419-1400
Good medium red. Nose dominated by cherry. Sweet, sappy flavors of red fruits and mint, with good fat for this holding. A fruit bomb of a Volnay, finishing with rather soft tannins.
Cask sample. Relatively pale, but very concentrated on the nose. Really quite a distinctive, solid, magisterial style. How wonderful to be this confident. (JR)
