Floral, candied violets on the nose. A little soft on the palate – to be drunk with food rather than as an aperitif. Slight chewiness on the end. (JR)

The 2015 Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine Clos du Four sees 12 months in troconic wooden vats followed by six months in foudres. It has an attractive nose of red apple, cold stones and a touch of quince that turns more menthol-like in the glass. The palate is quite rich and exotic for a Mâcon with mint and juniper berries, good weight in the mouth and a feisty, ginger finish. I should not like this wine, but I can't deny that it's got a bit of guts and it does retain balance.
Better ripeness than their Mâcon-Charnay. Well-integrated buttery notes and really appealing lemon citrus on the finish. Refreshing, vibrant, substantial. (RH)
Zesty and green-fruited on the nose. Full and broad and mealy on the palate and balanced by bright citrus fruit. Over-delivers in flavour if not in complexity. (JH)
