The 1994 Bual bottled in 2025 has a mahogany color and a nose of sweet spices and candied fruits with a nutty, spirity and faint volatile touch. It has an intense and pungent palate with some ashy notes, with sweetness, volume and a buttery finish. It matured in oak casks, and the label gives information about the lodge where the casks were and even the cask number. It has 20% alcohol, a pH of 3.3, 8.9 grams of acidity (and 0.95 grams of volatile acidity) and 130 grams of residual sugar. It's quite sweet, but the sugar is compensated and it comes through as balanced. 1,430 numbered bottles, 47 magnums and some larger formats produced.

Orangey tawny. Very smooth and subtle with notes of treacle and excellent balance. Truly refreshing – not too sweet. Good persistence. (JR)
The 1994 Bual does not really click into fifth gear on the nose and, despite coaxing, I want to see more vigor. It almost reluctantly opens with Seville orange marmalade, fig, clove and brown spices, finally getting going after a couple of hours. The palate is much better, with a smooth entry and a keen line of acidity. There is just the right amount of tension and spice here, less viscous than some Buals though long and cohesive toward the finish. Fine, but do decant this for several hours or more to get the best from it.
