(45% merlot, 35% cabernet sauvignon, 6% marselan, 5% cabernet franc, 5% syrah and 4% samso, aged in new French oak for 14 months): Dark purple. Blueberry, cocoa powder, licorice, coconut and smoky oak on the nose. Dense, fleshy and concentrated, with powerful flavors of candied blackberry, cherry-vanilla and mocha. This big, lush wine seems to have ample fruit to handle the assertive lumber.

(45% merlot, 35% cabernet sauvignon, 6% marselan, 5% each of cabernet franc and syrah and 4% carinena): Glass-staining purple. Cherry-vanilla, blueberry and spicecake on the nose and in the mouth. Lush, spicy and seamless, with very good lift and thrust. The finish repeats the blueberry note and clings with real intensity and sweet persistence. This drinks very well wight now.
Great colour, deep crimson. Our first Cabernet? Sweet and dusty and with some energy and finesse. (JR)
The saturated purple 2007 Geol is a blend of 41% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Garnacha, Marselan, and Cabernet Franc aged for 10 months in French oak. It offers up a brooding, muted nose of cedar, black currant, licorice, and pencil lead. Straightforward on the palate, this structured effort has tasty black fruit flavors leading to a slightly compact finish. It remains to be seen whether additional bottle age will round it out.
