Le Potazzine has managed the 2011 vintage better than most in the appellation. The estate's cool growing site and soft sea winds have proven essential to maintaining the sharp crispness and focus of this wine. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is exceptionally balanced and seamless. Its bouquet encompasses dark fruit, cherry, Spanish cedar, crushed mineral and tangy barbecue smoke. This estate shows some of its most interesting results in the hot vintages like 2011.

Deep ruby. Seductive, perfumed ripe nose with a touch of dried fruit. Mouth-filling yet balanced and with very pretty, chewy tannins on the finish. Brilliant effort for the vintage. (WS)
Soy, spice, blackcurrant, earth. Open, fragrant, satisfying. Firm but yielding structure. One of the more immediately enjoyable 2011 Brunellos. (RH)
