Note di degustazione
Based on 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc from younger vines, the 2022 La Raison D'Hetre was brought up mostly in used barrels, with 5% in new. Ripe black cherries, black raspberry, chalky minerality, and leafy herbs all define the nose, and it's nicely balanced, has ripe, building tannins, and tons of upfront charm and accessibility.

The 2022 La Raison d'Hêtre comes from younger vines located on lower slopes (I guess you could say that's its raison d'être ?) It has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet with hints of violet infusing the red berry fruit and a hint of blueberry tucked underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with a sharp entry, a dash of soy infusing the black fruit and a saline finish. Drink this over the next four to five years.
The 2022 La Raison d'Hetre, the estate's second wine, is bold, fruity and ready to go. A blast of dark plum, blackberry, chocolate, licorice and menthol makes a strong opening statement. This juicy Côtes de Castillon has a lot to recommend it.

Jacques Thienpont – owner of one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates, Le Pin – fell in love with the view from L’Hêtre when he first visited the property. He purchased the Côtes de Castillon estate, which offers a brilliant introduction to the Thienpont stable at an affordable pricepoint.
