The 2020 La Haye still has a slightly herbaceous, tertiary nose, yet it is well defined and there is sufficient fruit here. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins, very saline and sappy, moderate depth with a stocky finish that might benefit from a little more finesse. But it is quintessentially Saint-Estèphe with an appealing saline aftertaste.
The 2020 La Haye is a powerful, burly Saint-Estèphe. There's terrific depth and intensity to the fruit, but hard tannins and burly contours are impossible to get past. That said, there is quite a bit of potential here, if those things can be addressed in future vintages.
The 2020 La Haye has a deep purple-black color, rolling out of the glass with expressive notes of warm cassis, plum preserves and redcurrant jelly, plus wafts of potpourri and dusty soil. The medium-bodied palate delivers a great intensity of black and red fruit flavors with loads of earthy accents, framed by grainy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing perfumed.
