Cru bourgeois. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. 30% new oak. Bought by Treasury Wine Estates in late 2021. Deep crimson. Dark-fruited, cassis, spicy. More peppery as it opens and some sweet damson. Rather elegant on the palate, fine-boned texture, dry. Light bodied and yet doesn't really show the oak. Not sure it will age as long as some of the bigger wines – hard to predict. (JH)

The 2018 Château de Gironville was tasted twice. The first was missing some grip and body, but the second was better. This has a clean, quite pure bouquet of red cherries and raspberry preserve scents, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity. A lilting Haut-Médoc with commendable fruit concentration and a very harmonious finish. I find this second impression more representative.
All Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Château De Gironville is a solid, elegant wine offering plenty of red and black currant fruit, notes of cedary herbs and spice, medium-bodied richness, and a clean, classy style that's going to age gracefully. This is one of those wines that grows on you with time in the glass and its elegance and seamlessness keep you coming back. It should keep nicely for 10-12 years and, I suspect, benefit from a few years of bottle age.
