Notes of darker, plummy fruits, peppery herbs, and underbrush all emerge from the 2015 Château De Gironville and it’s medium-bodied, soft, plump, short and deliciously easy going. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Gironville has a rich and quite decadent bouquet that just lacks the finesse and refinement of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, soft in the mouth with a rather “fluffy” finish that needs more backbone. Tasted September 2017.
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot. This seems oddly cheap (I think this is the price in France)! Very dark glamorous crimson. Obviously lots of extraction. Well integrated and relatively complex nose. This splits the difference between too flashy and classic. Good stuff! Very well done. Clean but ripe, with some freshness and real drive and structure. Lightly tarry/minerally on the nose. Rather fine tannins with some sweetness. Flattering but dry on the finish. Well made. (JR)
