Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2022-2029, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

The 2018 Tayac has retained its blackberry and red plum nose, though it’s perhaps a little earthier and more leathery since I tasted it from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, and it has put on a bit of weight, filling in the midpalate with cranberry and blackberry fruit laced with cedar and mint on the finish. Fine.

The 2018 Tayac offers moderately defined ripe black plum and black currant on the nose, which is missing just a little complexity, though it seems clean. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit but needs more midpalate weight and feels too linear on the finish.

A slightly lean Margaux with decent fruit and a medium body. A little fluid at the moment. Wait and see.

The 2018 Tayac is composed of 52% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it strides confidently with redcurrants and cassis scents followed by cedar, cinnamon toast and violets. The palate is medium to full-bodied with loads of expressive fruit and a grainy texture, finishing perfumed.
