2021 Bedrock Wine Co. Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard

The 2021 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard is a powerful, austere wine that is not ready to show its cards yet. I would give the 2021 at least a few years in bottle, as it is very reticent at this stage. Blue/blackish fruit, lavender, sage, black pepper, menthol and dried herbs build effortlessly in the glass. The 2021 is mostly Z-Block (planted in 1991 with Estrella clone) plus dollops of X-block Syrah, done with a high percentage of whole clusters and aged in large format wood.
