The 2011 Blanco is slightly riper than the 2012 with aromas of yellow plums, waxy apples and spices. The palate is quite full with some astringency. The nose changes a lot to show notes of aromatic herbs, sometimes bringing echoes of a white Hermitage with an earthy, mushroom sensation. The palate is silky, with a subtle bitterness. This is a white that is built to last. 6,000 bottles produced.

(garnacha blanca, viura, roussanne, marsanne and viognier, fermented and aged in large oak casks): Bright yellow. Smoky pear and nectarine aromas are complemented by chalky minerals, toasty lees and iodine. Supple, deeply pitched orchard fruit and melon flavors stain the palate, picking up bitter citrus zest and ginger qualities on the back end. Turns firmer and more minerally with air, finishing with excellent lift, thrust and smoky persistence. I really like the fact that this wine has moved away from the overt oakiness it frequently showed in past vintages, and I now consider it to be among the top white wines in all of Spain.
