2011 Vivier Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Good bright medium red. Sexy, perfumed nose offers raspberry, red cherry, rose petal, spices and peppery herbs, plus a whiff of smoky underbrush. Suave, delicate and subtle, with lovely restrained sweetness to the savory flavors of red berries, flowers and spices. Not fat but nicely silky and pure. Finishes with firm, ripe tannins, very good length and noteworthy energy. This rather Chambolle-like pinot struck me as more refined than this producer's vineyard-designated pinots. Carrying a moderate 13.5% alcohol.
