The 2019 Syrah Presqu'ile Vineyard brings a touch more ripeness as well as red and blue fruits to go with old-school notes of leather, iron, crushed stone, and graphite. It's beautiful on the palate as well, with medium-bodied richness, a focused, structured mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a beautiful finish. This is another remarkable wine in the lineup with tons of character. It should evolve for at least a decade. I loved these latest releases from Presqu’Ile and winemaker Dieter Cronje. I found the wines to be overtly herbaceous in the past, but that’s not the case today and these are well worth seeking out.

The 2019 Syrah Presqu'ile Vineyard is a fabulous follow up to the 2018. Dark berry fruit, licorice, lavender, sage and dried leaves soar from the glass. There's terrific exuberance to play off the natural savoriness of this site and the generous use of stems (40%) in this cool year.
The 2019 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is terrific. Dark, pliant and expressive, the 2019 balances overt fruit with savory overtones, all in a creamy, open-knit style that is quite appealing. Cedar, tobacco, dried herbs, menthol and coffee are woven into a core of dark fruit. The Syrah is a bit strict in feel, but then again, we are in Presqu'ile.
