Note di degustazione
The 2012 Pinot Noir Baldwin Family Reserve is matured in 80% new oak like the 2011. Bright purple in color, the nose offers iodine and sea spray-scented dark berry fruit that is nicely defined, quite backward though, and needing aeration to really open up. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, sappy black fruit. I like the balance here, the delineation toward the finish that is superior to the Pinot Noir Estate. The aftertaste has a pleasant white pepper/allspice note that lingers. Very fine.

Brilliant ruby. Pungent aromas of black raspberry, cola, potpourri and smoky minerals show excellent clarity and lift. Silky, sweet and concentrated, with a velvety texture to the sappy blackberry and cherry-cola flavors; juicy acidity and a hint of white pepper provide lift. Luscious but energetic as well, finishing with strong punch and smooth, late-arriving tannins that fold smoothly into the wine's dense fruit.
