Punteggio 77/100 · Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Aug 2012
The 2001 Norte was afflicted by a sulphide reduction on the nose and is past its best, while the 2002 Norte is enervated and bitter on the palate.

(a blend based on 60% tempranillo) Deep red-ruby. Deep, rather syrah-like aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat, bacon fat, gunflint and minerals. Smoky and deep; less fruity than the regular 2001 bottling but larger-scaled and more concentrated. Notes of bitter cherry and tar, with an element of dried fruits. Finishes with strong but ripe tannins that dust the front teeth. Both of these wines were aged in new French oak and bottled without filtration.
