The 2018 Haut-Beauséjour has a pleasant and well-defined bouquet of blackberry, bilberry and light marine scents, understated but gaining intensity with aeration. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, a touch of menthol infusing the black fruit, and good acidity on the sapid finish. It does miss a bit of length, but with 24 months in bottle it should mellow and gain persistence. Fine.

Beautiful Saint-Estèphe darker, almost blue fruits as well as notes of dark chocolate, tobacco, and lead pencil emerge from the 2018 Château Haut-Beauséjour, and this medium to full-bodied 2018 has plenty of richness and mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. Another 2018 that gains steam and power with time in the glass, it packs impressive ripeness (but it's not overripe) while staying balanced and elegant. Well worth seeking out, it's going to benefit from 4-6 years in the cellar (it's enjoyable today) and have 20 years or more of longevity. Bravo!
The 2018 Haut-Beauséjour is a burly, powerful wine, but it comes together with a bit of time in the glass. Big tannins wrap around a core of red fruit, cedar, dried flowers, licorice, leather, menthol and scorched earth. The 2018 is a bit rustic, but also pleasing in its own way.
