This vintage was just a little reduced but still deep flavoured and very firm. Impressive! Palacios apparently changed the vinification in 2007 and stopped using strong bâtonnage aiming for 'more relaxed' wine. A rather attractive salty note on the finish. (JR)

The 2007 As Sortes is 100% Godello sourced from a small single vineyard. Waxy minerals and marzipan make for an intriguing nose. Elegant, potentially complex, and ripe, the wine is impeccably balanced but could use a bit more concentration. Drink it over the next four years. Barrel-fermented Godello. Delicate floral perfume and fresh white-fleshed fruit on the nose. Oak more noticeable on the palate but beautifully balanced. Combines delicacy of aroma with power and tight structure on the palate. Very very long and sustained freshness. (JH)
