The deep purple/plum-colored 2016 Château Guibot La Fourvieille is mostly Merlot and has good ripeness in its blackcurrants, incense, and spicy wood aromas and flavors. It’s plump, rounded, nicely concentrated, and textured on the palate, and while not profound, it certainly offers ample pleasure. Drink it over the coming decade.

The 2016 Guibot La Fourvieille has a simple raspberry and dark berry nose laced with black tea and tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe black berry and orange peel notes, a fine bead of acidity and quite a focused finish. Good potential.
Aromas of slate, dark berries and plums lead to a palate that offers a rich and powerful core of deeply ripe, plush and assertive tannins. Nicely polished with power to burn. A blend of 80 per cent merlot and 20 per cent cabernet franc. From organically grown grapes. Try from 2022.
The 2016 la Fourvieille is medium garnet-purple colored and gives up scents of warm red currants, black berries and raspberry leaves with touches of Mediterranean herbs, fertile loam and mossy bark. Medium-bodied, it has quite an earthy, restrained character in the mouth with firm, chewy tannins and a long, earth-laced finish.
