From clayey soils, the 2020 Pommard Les Argillières 1er Cru has a tightly-wound bouquet, more reserved with earthy red berry fruit mixed with a hint of peppercorns. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite fleshy and dense, though maybe here I am just seeking a little more tension and mineralité on the rather opaque finish.
