Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 1997-2007, Robert Parker, Aug 1995

Pierre Damoy, whose yields were as low as 18 hectoliters per hectare, has turned out a structured, but classically made 1993 Chapelle-Chambertin. Neither too tannic nor too acidic, this well-delineated, dark ruby-colored wine offers up a big, roasted herb and sweet cherry, curranty-scented nose with vague smoked meat notes. Medium-bodied, with excellent depth and fine purity, this wine should drink well in 2-4 years, and last for 10-12 years. With its holding of Chambertin-Clos de Beze (13+ acres) and 1.25-acre parcel of Chambertin, this is an estate with extraordinary potential. Friends of mine in France who had claimed Damoy had turned things around in 1993 were correct. The Chambertin, Chambertin-Clos de Beze and Chapelle-Chambertin are the finest wines made at this estate in more than three decades. Importer: William Grant & Sons, Edison, NJ; tel. (908) 225-9000
