100% Merlot. 30 hl/ha. Cask sample. Bright and lifted with juicy fruit and finely honed tannins. Smooth and round on the palate with adequate length. No hard edges. Plenty of appeal. (JL)

The 2024 Clos Cantenac was picked from September 21 until October 3. It has a fragrant nose that, to be honest, is not so different from the Petit Cantenac. On the nose, red cherry, hints of cassis and a touch of incense develop with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a bit more weight and a grainier texture compared to the Petit Cantenac. This finishes with a slight chalkiness. Give it a year or two in bottle.
Precise, juicy, austere, this has some fine tannic grip, and there is structure here, mouthwatering raspberry, blood orange, zest, softly spoken compared to the past few vintages but this is a lovely wine, and impressively moreish, savoury and saline on the close of play.
