Galeyrand's emblematic cuvée, the 2019 Côte de Nuits-Villages Les Retraits derives from a parcel in Comblanchien adjacent to Mugnier's Clos de la Maréchale. Bursting with scents of red berries, plums licorice, loamy soil, rose petals and violets, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, its textural attack segueing into a lively, ample mid-palate and a long, saline finish. From vines planted between 1925 and 1932, this is a first-rate cuvée well worth seeking out.
