The 2009 Chardonnay James Berry Vineyard is an intense, mineral-laced wine layered with expressive varietal fruit. It shows gorgeous focus and length in a wiry Chablis-influenced style that will make readers re-consider what is possible within California Chardonnay. Slate, crushed rocks and all things mineral frame the intense finish. Mahle aged the Chardonnay (from 45 year-old vines) in equal parts concrete and steel. This is a stellar effort.
