The 2012 Les Leçons des Maîtres, a Sauvignon/Semillon blend, is built on pure texture. White stone fruits, pears, flowers, spices and graphite are some of the notes that meld together in a layered, expressive wine loaded with class and pedigree.

(75% sauvignon blanc and 25% semillon; finished at .09 g/l of sugar, so utterly bone dry; 100% new oak): Green-hued yellow. A highly perfumed bouquet suggests ripe nectarine, floral honey and chamomile, with slow-building smoke and vanilla nuances. Pliant and expansive, offering palate-staining, minerally citrus and pit fruit nectar flavors and an exotic touch of agave. Finishes sappy and very long, with lingering floral, smoky and honey qualities. Reminds me of a very serious Bordeaux blanc.
