The 730-case cuvee of 2000 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is complex and Burgundian-like, with earthy, mineral, hazelnut, tropical fruit, and acacia flower notes. It is full-bodied, with surprisingly high acidity (from the cool climate, French style of northern California's 2000 vintage), and an extremely long finish. It should drink well for 3-5 years. Full palish yellow color. Knockout aromas of yellow plum, toasted hazelnut, smoke, clove and iodine; downright Burgundian. A wine of superb sweetness leavened by sheer mineral grip. Very deep, layered and powerful, with compellingly intense fruit that expands with aeration to take over the palate. Lively acids give this wine terrific structure and verve. Finishes very long, with no sign of alcohol. Stunning chardonnay.
