2005 Domaine Gérard Raphet Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes Cuvée Unique Grand Cru

Good bright, dark red. Spicy candied cherry, rose petal and clove on the nose. Dense, sweet and lush, with lovely depth to the flavors of spicy strawberry, cherry and minerals. Even fuller on the back end, but by no means overly sweet or a blockbuster. The wine's fat is nicely framed by an edge of acidity and some sweet oak tannins. With extended aeration, this showed classic Clos de la Roche notes of smoky red fruits and dried flowers.
