The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a very pure bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, a little riper and more generous than the Village. The medium-bodied palate has fine-grain tannins, a touch of allspice on the entry, and gentle grip, finishing with a touch of cumin. Very delicate and refined...yet could it have given me a bit more?(NM)
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques bursts with aromas of dark berries, peonies and orange zest, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless palate that's succulent and fine-boned, framed by sweet, powdery tannins.
Cask sample. Mid ruby. Small red and dark berries, cherry, raspberry, cassis. Seems just a little light, even a little meagre. Spice and warmth on the finish though. (MH)
