The 2023 L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne is airy, gracious and wonderfully refined. L'Extravagant is often more exotic than the straight Doisy-Daëne. In 2023, the wines seem to have reversed roles. Orchard fruit, white flowers, pear and passion fruit are some of the many notes that build with a bit of time in the glass. There's gorgeous freshness and nuance.

L’Extravagant de Doisy Daene 2023 is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. It has a pale lemon-straw color and after a swirl or two, a mushroom cloud of grapefruit oil, lemon tart, and lime blossom erupts from the glass, giving way to nuances of lemon verbena, sea spray, and Marcona almonds. The palate is super-concentrated, unctuous, and sweet, matched by an amazing backbone of acidity, finishing very long and zesty. Yum!
The 2023 L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne is pure Sémillon, as usual. This is much more streamlined and controlled than other vintages— less hedonistic, with fine delineation and more mineralité. The palate is outstanding, showcasing shimmering, citrus-fresh Clementine and peach notes. It’s less unctuous than other vintages, though perhaps that is due to the acidity (5.4 grams per liter). This fans out wonderfully on the finish. Fabulous.
The 2023 L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne soars out of the glass with stunning aromatics redolent of passion fruit, pineapple, exotic white flowers, mint, apricot and orange blossom. Bright acids lend freshness as the 2023 explodes on the back end. Even with all of its natural intensity, L'Extravagant is incredibly refined.
