Note di degustazione
The only 2017 not bottled at the time of my tastings, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Legend is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, and the rest Merlot that’s sourced from the estate property near Howell Mountain as well as sites on Pritchard Hill and Atlas Peak. This dense purple-hued effort offers rocking notes of blue and black fruits, flowers, cedarwood, and vanilla. These carry to a full-bodied barrel sample that has stunning purity of fruit, ripe yet present tannins, terrific balance, and a great, great finish. It’s certainly not far from the magical 2016 and is up with some of the top wines in the vintage.

A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Hertelendy Legend comes from Howell Mountain, Pritchard Hill and Atlas Peak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it comes hurtling out of the glass with all guns blazing, with sparking notes of blackcurrant pastilles, blackberry pie, chocolate-covered cherries and boysenberries plus suggestions of yeast extract, roasted nuts, black truffles and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, the palate bursts with vibrant black fruit flavors, framed by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long with great vibrancy and expression. 76 cases were made.
