The 2011 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru is a step up from the village Vosne. A big, intense wine, the 2011 blasts across the palate with black fruit, cloves, tobacco, menthol and licorice, all in a racy, intense style built for near term pleasure. There isn't a whole lot of subtlety here, but all the elements are nicely balanced just the same.
