The 2015 Chardonnay Estate is gorgeous. Lemon confit, apricot, mint, orange peel, jasmine and floral-infused honey confer gorgeous oiliness and texture. The Staglin Chardonnay is a blend of five clones across the property. About 50% of the wine was aged in thick-stave 500- and 600-liter barrels, making this a transitional vintage for the Staglin Chardonnay. The 2015 has aged so well. Today, it is absolutely exquisite.

Stone fruits, melon, spice and hints of tangerine all emerge from the 2015 Chardonnay Estate and is a lively, fresh, yet nicely textured effort that has loads to love. With bright acidity, it should keep nicely for 5-6 years, if not longer.
The 2015 Chardonnay has a ripe apricot and guava-scented nose with nuances of brioche, allspice, ginger and toasted almonds. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs in the stone fruit and spicy flavors. Supported by a lively backbone and silken texture, it finishes with a pleasant chalky edge.
Staglin's 2015 Chardonnay is tropical and oily, with all of the richness of the vintage front and center. Orange peel, crème brulée, honey, butter and apricot jam give the 2015 much of its oily, viscous personality. In recent years the move towards a more finessed style with larger format oak and blocked malolactic fermentation has resulted in a Chardonnay that is at once dense yet also tense, bright and nicely focused, especially for size. The 2015 saw about 50% large format 500 and 600 liter, thick-staved barrels.
