Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2026, Josh Raynolds, Apr 2016

(entirely destemmed and aged for a year in large, old foudres ): Brilliant ruby-red. Deep-pitched, smoke-tinged aromas of black raspberry and cherry, along with hints of licorice and cracked pepper. Broad, supple bitter cherry and dark berry flavors become sweeter with air, showing very good energy and back-end lift. Finishes sweet, smoky and long, with harmonious tannins and an echo of peppery spices.

The 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape les Sinards incorporates the young vines from Beaucastel, but also gets grapes from vines located in vineyard closer to the village of Châteauneuf du Pape. This juicy, fruit forward and easygoing effort offers notes of berry fruits, violets and leafy herbs to go with a medium-bodied, ready to go style on the palate. It will need drinking in its youth.

Opaque ruby. Heady, spice-tinged bouquet evokes fresh dark berries, lavender and Asian spices, with mineral and smoke nuances in the background. Silky and precise on the palate, offering sweet but surprisingly delicate black raspberry and floral pastille flavors. Closes spicy and long, with building spiciness and harmonious tannins.
