Green apples, pears, mint, melon and white flowers all take shape in the 2012 Eisrebe, 100% Scherebe from estate-owned vineyards. This pretty, perfumed sweet white is best enjoyed on its own or with fruit based desserts. 375 ml

(finished with 24.5% residual sugar, a bit high for this bottling, and volatile acidity around a gram per liter): Good pale yellow. High-pitched, high-toned aromas of apricot, honey and botanical herbs. Intensely flavored and creamy but not terribly sweet, thanks to a strong saline component and bracing finishing acidity. Like a liquid confection in the mouth but almost shockingly fresh. Finishes salty, tactile and very long, with a strong impression of solidity. This included a tiny bit of botrytized berries, but less than last year's model.
