1994 Franciscan Estate Magnificat

The dark plum-colored 1994 Magnificat is tightly-knit, revealing abundant toasty, smoky oak in the nose, along with jammy prune and black currant fruit intermixed with weedy tobacco and cedar. The wine is medium-bodied, with moderately high tannin, new wood (perhaps excessive), and a sweet, rich, long finish.
