Note di degustazione
A big, sweetly fruited wine, the 2008 Beckmen Vineyards Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard oozes brambly dark berry fruits, black pepper, underbrush, violets, smoky earth, and mineral nuances on the nose. Medium to full bodied on the palate, the wine carries a round, lush personality with sweet fruit, no hard edges, and a clean, long finish. Enjoy this delicious, easy going Syrah over the next 3 to 5 years.

The 2008 Grenache/Syrah blend from the Purisma Mountain Vineyard may well be my favorite wine in what is a very impressive group of wines. Dense ruby/purple-tinged, with an explosively intense nose of kirsch liqueur, creme de cassis, licorice, and spring flowers, the wine is full-bodied, opulent, with a voluptuous texture as well as terrific purity and length. Irresistible now, this wine should continue to provide compelling drinking for at least a decade. Two of the finest bargains year in and year out from California’s Central Coast are Beckman’s red Cuvee Le Bec and their more recent white, Le Bec Blanc. Both can probably be found for under $18 at discounters. I tasted four Syrahs from Beckman Vineyards, all of them meriting an outstanding score. This corroborates past performances over the last decade that Beckman is one of the best producers from Santa Ynez. Tel. (805) 688-8664; Fax (805) 688-9983
