100% Tempranillo. Almost centenarian vines, from 70 to 100 years old. Aged for 20 months in French and American new oak barrels. Production: 7,000 bottles. Perfect ripening of the fruit. Prevalence of plums, redcurrants and blackberries followed by the sweet spices from well-integrated oak. On the palate, it all makes sense. The wood adds complexity and does not precede the fruit flavours. Firm but not drying tannins, and a continental acidity adding elegance. This is a classic profile that plays with maturity to have a great sensory impact. (FC)

2017 was a challenging year with frost in the Duero zone, and the 2017 Viñas Viejas, a selection of Tempranillo from older vines, shows some development of aromas and a polished palate. It's ripe and has some tannins and oak echoes, like the fruit is drying out. It is ready. 12,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2019 after 20 months in new oak. Drink up.
Opaque ruby. Highly expressive cherry-vanilla and blackberry aromas are complicated by emerging floral, oak spice and vanilla nuances. Sappy, sweet and broad on the palate, offering densely packed black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors that deliver impressive energy for their heft. Shows a subtle fruitcake note on a persistent, oak-spiced finish framed by harmonious tannins. Aged for 20 months in new and used French oak barrels.
