This label continues to produce terrific wines, and their 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is an undeniable success. Based on 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot that spent 22 months in 80% new barrels, it offers a classy bouquet of crème de cassis, flowers, crushed stone, and a hint of smoked tobacco. This beauty is medium to full-bodied and balanced, has ripe tannins, and is a straight-up rocking 2017 I’d be thrilled to drink. It should keep for 15-20 years.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot coming from vineyards in Rutherford, Oakville and Pritchard Hill. It was aged in 80% new French oak and 20% one-year-old French oak. Deep garner-purple colored, it springs from the glass with notions of baked black cherries, crème de cassis, mulberries and blackberry pie with hints of dried sage, unsmoked cigars and Ceylon tea. Full-bodied, it has a rugged frame of firm, chewy tannins and loads of freshness supporting the stewed fruit and savory layers, finishing on a stewed tea note. 225 cases were made.
